Tips. Mosquito repellents and outdoor foggers are the most common ways people protect themselves from mosquitoes, but how can you protect your family and your community from a larger mosquito infestation and the diseases that mosquitoes carry?
Water is the main breeding site for mosquitoes. Female mosquitoes lay their eggs on surfaces of standing water, and the larvae live and develop into pupae in water. The most important thing to remember is that when the larvae hatch from the eggs they must have standing or stagnant water to develop into adults. If there is no water, there will be no mosquitoes!
The best thing you can do to prevent mosquitoes from setting up camp in your neighborhood is to eliminate anything that can hold water, such as buckets, toys and flower pots. Keep such things as wading pools and bird baths clean and drained when you are not using them.
